2009 Readings


September 21: Kazim Ali will read with Jessica Grim at the Oberlin Public Library. Sponsored by Oberlin College Creative Writing Program. 7:00pm, 65 South Main Street, Oberlin, Ohio.


September 24: Kazim Ali will read at John Carroll University. Sponsored by English Department. 8:00pm, 20700 N. Park Blvd, University Heights, OH.


October 3: Kazim Ali will read with Joanna Klink, Michael Dumanis, Sarah Gridley, and Mary Quade as part of the “Poetry in the Gardens” program at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. 2pm, Cleveland Botanical Garden, 11030 East Boulevard Cleveland, OH. October 10: Kazim Ali will read with Ted Mathys at The Lit, Cleveland’s Literary Center. 7pm, 2570 Superior Avenue, Suite 203, Cleveland, OH.


October 22: Kazim Ali will read at Williamsville East High School, 151 Paradise Road, East Amherst, NY. Contact school for time and location.


October 26: Kazim Ali will read with Ibtisam Barakat, Raza Ali Hasan, Fady Joudah, and Khaled Mattawa as part of a symposium on Muslim American poets and poetics. 1pm-7pm (Kazim reads at 3pm), Northwestern University, Norris Center Dittmar Gallery, 1999 Campus Drive, Chicago, IL.

Poets on Poetry

Marilyn Hacker and Annie Finch, editors of this wonderful series housed at the University of Michigan Press, have accepted my book of essays, Orange Alert, for publication in 2010. This book collects the series of essays that has been appearing in American Poetry Review over the past two years and adds several more.
